The inadaptable on one hand and the parvenu on the other hand are representative characters of a historical period of transition from one civilization to another, a period currently faced by our society. These types ofcharacters we find in various European literatures, but their frequency and presentation in each literature differs.
In Romanian prose the inadaptable attracts more attention and sympathy than the parvenu. In other words, the typology of Romanian novel would be based on two opposing human categories. The first continues the tradition of romantic character (Toma Nour, Dionis) and the second is based on Dinu Paturica. |
