Doctors and nurses practice in Romania are exposed to a high risk in terms of possible allegations of malpractice, as demonstrated by the increasing number of complaints of malpractice and maintained by many negative stories, often incompletely or incorrectly documented in the media. The main objective of the survey was to collect detailed information about the conduct of the respondents
and their practice in relation to the applicable legal regulations and the secondary objective was to identify key areas of vulnerability of the medical practice in Romania and attitudes that generate violations in each of these areas. The target group consisted of 256 physicians from different specialties and 275 nurses. The overall conclusion of the study is that, in their current activities doctors and nurses surveyed did not fully comply with the legal framework of practice that they perform. At the
same time, our research has identified two main areas of vulnerability of medical practice: informed consent and the confidentiality of medical data. |
