Approaching the issue of resolving territorial conflicts requires the multilateral treatment of the conflict as a concept, elucidation of its essence, particularities and distinct character in relation to other similar categories, such as: „dispute”, „conflict situation”, „litigation”, „Crisis”, „war”. In the article, the authors also analyze the military action that takes place at the request of the host state government, in order to support it in the fight against one or more nonstate armed groups, the conflict retains its internal character. Such a qualification is logical, as in this situation there is no armed opposition between two or more states. Instead, the qualification is more complex when the armed intervention of the third state is made in favor of non-state actors and against the state government.
