Important foreign interpretations of the content, meaning and morality of accounting are presented, and some historical aspects of its development are revealed. Two new, simpler and clearer forms of tables “List of accounting accounts” of section II of the moldovian General chart of accounts are proposed, a significant shortcoming of its terminology and a way to eliminate this shortcoming are indicated. The role of accountants in modern conditions of management and development of a market economy is revealed.
