Rezumat

Alexandru Marghiloman, a prominent figure in Romanian political life from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, was appointed prime minister of Romania by King Ferdinand I and was empowered to sign, on February 20/March 5, 1918, the armistice and the Treaty preliminary peace with the Central Powers. In the same capacity as prime minister, he received, in Chisinau, on March 27, 1918, the Declaration of the Council of the Country on the union of Bessarabia with Romania. Villa „Albatros”, designed by the famous French architect Paul Gottereau, was inaugurated by Alexandru Marghiloman in 1897 and hosted important personalities of Romanian political life throughout the years. On October 1, 2015, after four years of restoration work, the villa was introduced to the cultural and tourist circuit. The „Alexandru Marghiloman” Cultural Center currently operates here, intended to host some of Buzău’s special cultural events, and for tourists it represents an emblematic point of attraction.
