Rezumat

Changing and dynamically reconfiguring the content of the occupation Librarian with higher education implicitly generates the need for continuous quality professional training for specialists in the field in order for them to acquire practical skills, specific knowledge and attitudes required by employers in the labor market. The content of the occupation Librarian with higher education is amplified and developed in close connection with the increasing complexity of the processes carried out inside the libraries and in relation to the market requirements and the level of exigency of the beneficiaries. The main factors influencing change, redefining the librarian profession and developing new skills, in line with the evolution of the knowledge society are: fierce competition in the infosphere; information as a commodity; the continuous evolution of information and communication technologies, as well as working and living conditions; the complexity of the work in the info-documentary structures and the deepening of the specialization; demographic changes and the dynamism of the global environment; the diversity of potential users and their value system - the profile of the modern user (trained, busy, hurried, disoriented, with very little free time, looking for immediate answers, with increasingly advanced technical skills). The occupation is in a continuous change and reconfiguration as a result of the evolution and wide spread of the new information and communication technologies and of the tools made available by them. Librarians with higher education have very good ability to relate to various categories of people, effective communication, research, analysis and synthesis, assimilation of a important volume of information, administration of resources and collections of documents, organization, management of various professional situations , flexibility, openness to the new, resistance to sustained intellectual effort. Competencies acquired in other ways than formal ones can be assessed on the basis of the occupational standard.
