Rezumat

Festuca valesiaca Schleich. ex Gaudin, Poaceae family is widely distributed through central Europe and northern Asia, where it grows in steppes, dry meadows, and open rocky or sandy areas. The local ecotype of Festuca valesiaca that grow in pure culture the experimental plot of the “Alexandru Ciubotaru” National Botanical Garden (Institute) of Moldova served as subject of the research. We found that the harvested whole plant in the flowering period contained 35.04 % dry matter. The quality indices of the dry matter of harvested mass was: 8.7% CP, 43.3% CF, 74.1% NDF, 45.6% ADF, 5.6% lignin, 40.0% Cel, 28.5% HC, 4.0% sugar, 7.9% ash, 53.4% DMD, RFV = 67, 10.69 MJ/kg DE, 8.78 MJ/kg ME and 4.79 MJ/kg NEl. The prepared hay contained 9.3% CP, 42.3% CF, 72.6% NDF, 45.3% ADF, 5.7% lignin, 39.6% Cel, 27.3% HC, 2.6% sugar, 8.6% ash, 53.6% DMD, RFV = 69, 10.73 MJ/kg DE, 8.81 MJ/kg ME and 4.83 MJ/kg NEl. The biochemical methane potential of substrates from Festuca valesiaca reached 312 L/kg organic matter. The cultivar local ecotype of Festuca valesiaca can be used for the restoration of degraded permanent grasslands, as a component of the mix of grasses and legumes for the creation of temporary grasslands, the harvested biomass can be used as fodder for farm animals or as substrate in biogas generators for the production of renewable energy. Financial support for research was offered by the National Agency for Research and Development, project no. 20.80009.5107.02.
