Rezumat

Signing Paris Agreement and European Green Deal, European Union committed to becoming a carbon emission-neutral continent by 2050 in terms of GHG. The Republic of Moldova is the European Union Associated Country, a member of the European Energy Community, and a signatory part of the Paris Agreement. Thus, the Republic of Moldova took commitments to reduce its carbon emissions too. The Republic of Moldova has substantial renewable energy sources potential, especially wind, solar, and bioenergy. Integration of wind and solar energy sources (variable renewable energy sources) is associated with several technical, economic, social, and environmental challenges, including reliability and resilience of the energy systems and the power quality, etc. Considering the projected energy transition, this paper presents the analysis of risks for power quality in the massive presence of variable renewable energy sources in the National Power System.
