The author makes a presentation of a book written by the reputed ethnologist Varvara Buzilă, recently published, “Rhetoric of dress: the blouse with “altiță” (valorizing the collections of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History and the context of cultural realities)”. The book was published in the context of promoting the nomination file “The art of the traditional blouse embroidered on the shoulder (altiță) – an element of cultural identity in Romania and the Republic of Moldova”, which was inscribed by UNESCO, on the 1st of December 2022, on the “Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”. V. Buzilă proposes new perspectives on several aspects concerning the study of this blouse. At the same time, she presents a richly illustrated catalogue of the collection of blouses with embroidery on the shoulder, owned by the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History.
