The actuality of the topic addressed resides in the interest shown in knowing the impact of civil society and the mass media in the fight against corruption. The role of civil society in the fight against corruption consists first of all in participating, alongside the political class, in the formation of anti-corruption policies in the state, and in the second – in participating in monitoring the functionality of anti-corruption mechanisms. The biggest problem in the state's collaboration with civil society remains the acute lack of instruments for monitoring and controlling the consultation process with civil society. In the opinion of civil society representatives, the mass media can essentially influence the process of reducing the phenomenon of corruption in society by: „broad coverage of high-level corruption cases”, „the development of investigative journalism”, „signaling the trends and consequences that may occur following the increase in the phenomenon of corruption or its continuous propagation in a field”. |
