Rezumat

Adolescence is a time governed by change, tension, and vulnerability. Stress is a common problem for teenagers, given the physical and mental changes they go through to build a new identity. In an experimental study, we aimed to study the manifestation of stress in adolescents and the coping strategies they resort to. Following the study, in which 100 subjects participated, we found that more than half of adolescents present a high level of stress, with girls showing a more intense and visible reactivity to stress. The causes of stress mentioned by more than half of the teenagers are: the anxiety felt before taking the exams (80%), the overloaded volume of school material (79%), and textbooks with incomprehensible or boring content. Regarding the coping strategies that the adolescents, participating in the study, in question access more often, we could say that the adolescents are willing to plan the solution to a difficult situation (rather than avoid it, distance themselves), a fact that indicates an optimal level of development of the socio-emotional maturity of the adolescents involved in our research. It is important for adolescents to perceive daily stress as a natural state and a challenge of the contemporary world, to know how to cope with destructive emotions, and to effectively overcome these stressful events.
