Rezumat

At the end of the summer of 2022, in the lower sector of Prut River, and later in the fall of the same year, in the Stânca-Costești reservoir, was found a new species for this ecosystem, endemic of the Danube basin - Rutilus virgo (Heckel, 1852). According to the literature, the species is widespread in the Danube, the Tisza and their tributaries in Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. In the Danube River the area of distribution of the species is the upper and medium sector, upstream of the Iron Gates. It also enters the North-West of Romania where it was reported in the Tur River, North of Satu Mare, its name being a direct reference to this characteristic. In 2010 the species was identified in the transCarpathian region of Ukraine, where it was captured in the lower sections of the Latorica and Borzhava river (Dolinskiy, 2011). In the catches with the seine net of the lower Prut, 38 specimens of the age (0+ – 2+) were identified, respectively (l= standard length, P= total weight): 0+, n=3, l=5,23±0,18cm (min.– 5,0cm and max.-5,5cm), P=2,23±0,15g (min.–2,0g and max.–2,4g); 1+, n=30, l =7.54±0.12cm (min.–6.3 cm and max.–8.5 cm), P=8.82±0.42g (min.–5.2g and max.–12.7g); 2+, n=5, l=9.88±0.44cm (min.–8.6 cm and max.–10.2cm). P=20.82±3.07g (min.–13.9g and max.–30.1g)
