Background: Meniere’s disease is an idiopathic disorder, with a great impact on human life, in which specialists use surgical treatment in order to ameliorate the episodes of vertigo. Materials and methods. We have performed a clinicalstatistic study among 23 patients undergoing surgical treatment: chorda tympani section in Meniere’s disease, in the last 10 years in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology. Results. 1 month postoperatively, 57% of the patients presented the absence of vertigo episodes, 26%- weaker episodes and 17% - no effect. 12 months postoperatively, 39% of the patients did not experience an exacerbation of the disease, 30% - accused weaker episodes and 30% - no effect. Conclusion: A correctly indicated surgical operation denotes a 65% efficiency in the improvement of vertigo episodes in the first year of postoperative evaluation. |
