Rezumat

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder, that affect the entire personality, manifesting itself by fundamental and specific alterations in perception, thoughts, mood and behavior, by positive and negative symptoms. Negative symptoms are a core component of schizophrenia that account for a large part of the long-term disability and poor functional outcomes in patients. Up to 60% of patients may have clinically relevant negative symptoms that require treatment.. Negative symptoms can occur at any point in the course of illness, although they are reported as the most common first symptom of schizophrenia. The five domains of negative symptoms: blunted affect, alogia, anhedonia, asociality, avolition and apathy. Negative symptoms can be primary symptoms, which are intrinsic to the underlying pathophysiology of schizophrenia, or secondary symptoms that are related to psychiatric or medical comorbidities, adverse effects of treatment, or environmental factors. While secondary negative symptoms can improve by cause treating, primary negative symptoms generally do not respond well to currently available antipsychotic treatment. The bibliographical research objective is to provide useful information for clinicians. It is comparing meta-analyses research of pharmacological groups of drugs (neuroleptics, antidepressant, glutamatergic, etc) in terms of efficiency for negative symptoms treatment. Were analyzed and synthesized the relevant articles published between 2015-2020. Negative symptoms clearly constitute an unmet medical need in schizophrenia closely linked to social dysfunction, low life quality, and new effective treatments are urgently needed.
