Heraldry (including the special discipline vexillology, from the Latin vexillum – flag) is described as historical science theories, with practical and applied functions, and a significant impact for the daily activity of the state and citizens, especially in the military forces and patriotic education. A retrospective view of the historical evolution of the tricolor flag was imperative at the end of 80’s of the past century and today, as some opinions seem to deny the right of citizens of Moldova to the Romanian national colors. Symbols, as part of the history of human civilization, and national State symbols in particular, are particularly important. National symbols and symbolic culture have a high semiotic status. The spirituality of a nation is retained in its heraldic symbols. The history of Romanian symbols conclusively confirms the thesis according to which, such as the treasury, the bases of national symbols are multiple elements, of which some belong to the pre-national stage.
