year of 2020 has been marked worldwide by the pandemic crisis which, without a doubt, has greatly affected the social, political and economic environment. The changes resulting from the crisis have affected various economic branches in a very varied way, giving us a new perspective for analyzing the economic situation in the Republic of Moldova. Thus, this report tends to inspect the banking sector in the context of changes imposed by the current situation, analyzing the activity of the commercial banks during the pandemic compared to previous years, the volume of their assets, credit activity, liquidity and commercial profit under the influence of the dynamics of the interest rate, in order to identify the contribution of financial institutions to alleviating the economic crisis caused by the pandemic.
