Background. Medicina disciplina antiqua est. Medical terminology in the Romanian language is a terminology formed at a national level, which takes over romanian philosophy and existential values. Scholar languages, Greek and Latin, ensure the terminological continuity of medicine. Objective of the study. The elucidation of the formation process, establishment of medical terminology in the Romania language in the context of internationalisation of the medical terminology. Material and Methods. The factual material of investigation included: lexicographical sources, fiction sources, etc. The methodology of scientifical research, through the essence of the adressed topic, is deductive. The purpose and the objectives of this research requested conjugation of miscellanious methods: the hystorical method, the comparative method, the structural-functional method, etc. Results. Medical terminology in the Romanian language represents a symbiosys between the national and the international. The loaned words formed from Greek-Lation elements are reserving the satus of „internationalism” and are occupying a interlinguistic position. The scholar languages are extraction and creation sources of medical terms. The Latin language, par execelnce, remains to be a „comunication language” of teaching/learning of medical material. Some terms are utilized in a practical unmodified form more than 2000 years. The Latin language maintains it's nominative role and permanent position in the medical terminology, having a specific function - terminological. Conclusion. The medical terminology in the Romanian language represents a symbiosis between national medical terminology (formed on the basis of the words loaned from the local traditional lexicon) and international terminology (based on the general international lexicon). |
