In the context of the experience of socialization and communication the term of competence is used not only in management and psychology, but also in linguistics. Put it that way, we talk about our linguistic skills, namely the verbal and written expression in the mother tongue, as well as in the foreign languages. By persevering in the acquirement of linguistic skills, communication skills, we’ll also realize the importance of the cultural, linguistic, social, civic and entrepreneurial diversity. That is why, in order to overcome communication barriers, individuals from different linguistic and cultural communities are trying to increase their efficiency of intercultural contact through the intervention of translation. An accurate translation function is to conciliate the differences or to alleviate the imposed by language and culture differences. Digital language barriers present a "threat" for communicators. In this regard , in order to build an "Europe without communication barriers " that supports the free flow of information, ideas, business, meanwhile preserving the richness of the cultural and linguistic diversity, META-NET (an excellent European network that includes 60 research centers from 34 countries) has been dedicated to promote technological foundations for the establishment and maintenance of a real multilingual European informational society, outlining ways in which the concentrated investment in language technologies can generate considerable economic benefits, far from exceeding the costs. Hence we also talk about an intercultural contact, which requires an expression without language barriers, communication barriers, creating at the same time an effective intercultural dialogue between the participants.
