Background. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic had a negative impact on all parts of the population, and patients with pre-existing glomerulopathy had a high risk of impairment and worsening of the underlying pathology. Objective of the study. Examination of patients with nephrotic syndrome appeared de novo (after suffering from SARS-CoV-2 infection), or aggravated nephrotic syndrome. Material and Methods. The study was performed on a group of 7 patients, hospitalized in the Nephrology department, IMPS SCR "Timofei Moșneaga" who were investigated clinically and paraclinically (laboratory and instrumental, including kidney biopsy), between 30.03.2021-21.05.2021 . Results. The number of primary patients diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome after suffering from SARS-CoV-2 infection was 3 patients (42.85%). The aggravation of glomerular pathology after SARS-CoV-2, was determined by increasing of the 24-hour urinary protein in 1 patient (14.28%), in 3 patients (42.85%) the presence of nephrotic syndrome was not caused and associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Renal biopsy was performed in patients with nephrotic syndrome and post-SARS-CoV-2 infection: in 2 patients (50%) the diagnosis of renal amyloidosis was established, and in 2 patients (50%) - segmental focal glomerulosclerosis with progressive evolution, late stage. Conclusion. SARS-CoV-2 infection was associated with exacerbation of nephrotic syndrome in 4 patients (57.14%), with a more severe evolution of disease and an unfavorable prognosis, and with the unclear pathogenetic mechanism of renal involvement. |
