Rezumat

La métode EDA est inspirée de la maïeutique – dans la philosophie socratique, art de faire découvrir à l’interlocuteur (par une série de questions) les vérités qu’il porte en lui. Cette métode active place le jeune en situation de faire des choix. Il ne s’agit pas de juger le jeune sur les choix qu’il a effectués, mais de le faire réfléchir sur le sens de ces choix. La métode EDA a été élaborée selon trois phases pédagogiques successives: Éveil (qui doit susciter l’intérêt, la curiosité, le désir du jeune pour le thème traité); Débat (les jeunes sont invités à faire part de leurs points de vue, de leurs opinions ou de leurs connaissances sur le sujet abordé); Approfondissement (permet d’approfondir le sujet abordé).

The EDA pedagogic model is inspired by Socratic teaching – i.e., the art of making the interlocutor discover the truth by himself, using a series of questions. This active method puts the young learner in the position of making choices. The trainer does not judge the learner on his choices, but helps him think about the meaning of those choices and evaluate their pertinence on his own. The three letters stand for the three stages of this method: E from Éveil (awakening the learner, or breaking the ice), D from Débat (debate on a given topic), and A from Approfondissement (exploring the topic).
