Introduction. Allergy to cow’s milk protein (CMPA) is a serious problem in modern pediatrics, as it often occurs in the first months of a child’s life and can affect the formation of severe allergic diseases at an older age, as a result, can affect the general condition of patients, their quality of life, as well as their parents. Aim of the study. To study the correlation between the molecular diagnostics of Ig-E mediated allergy to cow’s milk proteins in children and the quality of life of their family members. Material and methods. The study included 20 parents of children with cow’s milk protein allergy, aged 1 month to 17 years. The ALEX test was used for molecular diagnostics of CMPA. To assess the quality of life of parents of children with CMPA was appliedthe questionnaire “The Food hypersensitivity famiLy ImPact, FLIP”. Results. There was a direct correlation between the FLIP score and the Ig E level: the wider the spectrum of sensitization to food allergens, the higher the FLIP score. In 30% of cases, the family history of allergy was burdened and negatively affected the quality of life. A lower quality of life was observed in the parents of patients with CMPA, sensitive to Bos d 8. Analysis of the spectrum of sensitization by the ALEX test allowed determining monoloallergy (to CMP) in 40% of cases; food polysensitization in 60% of cases (for seafood, eggs, raspberries). When assessing the content of allergens in cow’s milk, α-lactalbumin and β-lactoglobulin prevailed in 75% of cases, followed by casein in 40% and serum albumin in 25% of cases. Conclusions. Was spotted a direct relationship between the type of cow’s milk allergen and the quality of life of family members of patients with CMPA (in the case of thermostable allergens, the quality of life was lower). The more pronounced the clinical manifestations of CMPA and the more products are excluded from the diet of the mother and/ or children, was the lower quality of life of the child and his family members. Improving their quality of life requires a holistic approach that includes educating patients and their families. |
