Background. Perinatal ischemic stroke (IS) includes three broad categories: fetal stroke, neonatal stroke, and presumed fetal or neonatal stroke, with the frequency of 1: 4000 live births. Prediction of perinatal IS represent a current topic. Objective of the study. performing prenatal screening of pregnant women in the risk group, for early diagnosis and prevention of perinatal IS. Material and Method. during the medical-genetic consultation were evaluated 153 pregnant women, with a term between 20 and 38 weeks amenorrhea, with suspicious ultrasound data (ultrasonographic examination was performed after 20 weeks of gestation, when fetal anatomical defects can be determined, but also some pathologies, including fetal IS). Results. Indirect signs of fetal distress at risk of perinatal IS are: hyperechogenic areas in the parenchyma - 10 cases (6,5%, 95CI 4,5-8,5), cysts in the periventricular area - 11 (7,2%, 95CI 5,11-9,29), cysts in the choroidal plexus - 27 (17,6%, 95CI 14,52-20,68), bleedingischemic areas - 7 (4,6%, 95CI 2,91-6,29), oligoamnios - 7 (4,6%, 95CI 2,91-6,29), polyhydramnios 15 (9,8%, 95CI 7,4-12,2), symmetrical type of fetal retardation - 5 (3,3%, 95CI 1,86-4,74), pelvic presentation - 18 (11,8%, 95CI 9,2-14,4), duplex - 13 (8,5%, 95CI 6,25-10,75), reduction of fetal motor activity - 27 (17,6%, 95CI 14,52-20,68), obvious reduction of placenta size - 13 cases (8,5%, 95CI 6,2510,75). Conclusion. Evaluation during the genetic counseling of the results of ultrasonographic examination of pregnant women represents a method of predicting of perinatal IS. Prenatal screening should be performed on all pregnant women from the IS risk group. |
