Rezumat

The article addressed the views of S. Huntington and D. Rustow in relation to the democratic transition, the problem that is configured as a dominant of the contemporary political discourse. The reference works of the two political scientists articulated in the context of the transitological paradigm were investigated The Third Wave: Democratization in the Late Twentieth Century (1991) and Transitions to Democracy: Toward a Dynamic Model(1970). It focused on emphasizing the cardinal elements of the theoretical-methodological approach of S. Huntington and D. Rustow regarding: democracy and the processes of global democratization; the phases specific to the democratic path; internal and external factors aimed at facilitating transient production etc.
