Rezumat

In this study, the status of grape production and trade in Turkey and the world were discussed with the official data acquired by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) and TURKSTAT (Turkish Statistical Institute). In conclusion, the total grape production in Turkey as of 2019 is 4.1 million tons of grapes produced was determined that more than 1/3 consists of dried grapes. The pioneering provinces in Turkey's grape production are Manisa, Denizli, and Mersin with the production of about 1.5 million tons, 440 thousand tons, and 330 thousand tons, respectively. While most of the dried grapes are produced are seedless grapes, it has been observed that almost all of these grapes are produced in the Aegean Region. Seeded dried grapes are mostly produced in hot and relatively dry Southeastern Anatolian provinces. Mersin province, located in the Mediterranean region, has come to the fore with its early table grape production due to its warm climate. Turkey has a considerable share in raisins (33%) while other products and market share of trading in raw grape has been quite low in the world’s grape trade.
