This article presents the principle of the local autonomy, exclusively seen from the administrative point of view. The local autonomy does not appear as a last development ladder of the administrative decentralization „a modern form of the principle”. In the essence, this one represents the transfer of some competences from the central level to different administrative organs and authorities, which function separately in the territorial – administrative institutions, authorities which are selected from the respective local collectives also considered „separate administrative bodies”.
