Rezumat

The article presents the results of phonosemantic analysis of the names of natural phenomena. The names of winds according to the International classification of winds, given in it in different languages, were chosen as the object of study. In the course of the study, the respondents had to correlate the names of the winds with their physical characteristics based on the perception of the sound-letter composition of the word. They were offered the following physical characteristics of the winds: cold, summer, dry, warm, western, wet, hurricane, breezes and storms. When distributing the names of winds into groups of physical characteristics, the respondents used an additional type of perception - synesthesia, which makes it possible to feel the physical characteristics of a natural phenomenon by the sound-letter composition of its name. Obtained results of phonosemantic analysis of natural phenomena (winds) can be applied in different areas of science and practice: phonosemantics, psycholinguistics, marketing, advertising, branding.
