Viral hepatitis B, C and D in children are a global problem, despite the introduction of the vaccine against viral hepatitis B. Our study evaluated 40 children diagnosed with hepatitis B, C and D, establishing the most frequent transmission routes to be parenteral, perinatal and habitual. In 45 % of the cases the clinical signs were polymorphic, which lead to diffi culties in establishing the diagnosis. The clinical diagnosis was confi rmed using blood tests for hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis B antigen, antibody to hepatitis B core antigen IgM/ IgG, antibody to hepatitis C IgM/IgG, antibody to hepatitis D IgM/IgG, and by determining HBV-DNA, HDV/HCV-RNA via PCR. |
