Rezumat

In the last decade, worldwide, the value of cultural heritage has been conceptualized in the form of a strategic vision of sustainable development of society. Culture and in particular museums are analyzed as an extraordinary social integration potential, condition of expression of social-cultural diversity, possibility to increase the degree of acceptance and tolerance towards various social groups, accumulation of economic capital, etc. The culture can bring a considerable contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). Fur the rmore, culture and cultural institutions and uniquely positioned to address topical issues of all the three pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social. UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Protection and Promotion of Museums and Collections, their Diversity and their Role in Society” (2015) highlighted the strong connections between museums and sustainable development: "Museums as spaces for cultural transmission, intercultural dialogue, learning, discussion and training, also play an important role in education (formal, informal, and lifelong learning), social cohesion and sustainable development". The museums of Republic of Moldova remain still the most accessible cultural institutions capable to transmit cultural values through the collections they hold and they have a big potential to be the active participants in the formation of the spiritual values of the human being and society. In the light of current global challenges, it is very important for the museums to make themselves known, first of all as centers of cultural, scientific and educational development with a large access to collections and scientific researches. The museum should be not only a collection of unique artifact and original objects of the past, but also a modern place for communication and personal development. The second priority of the museums activities is the attraction of new segments of audience and expansion of the range of museum services. To successfully carry out the main Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is necessary a close collaboration and a sustainable partnership of museum with educational and research institutions, cultural institutions, ministries, non-governmental organizations and local authorities.
