During the Scientific Conference “The Romanian language is the correct name of our language” (Chisinau, July 20-21, 1995), held in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Corlăteanu made an extensive historical analysis of the use of the glotonym Romanian on the Eastern bank of river Prut. The “Moldovan language”, stated the author, was imposed by the tsarist and Soviet regimes. The numerous arguments presented, demonstrate the inconsistency of the theory of two languages (Romanian and “Moldovan”) and two distinct peoples (Romanian and “Moldovan”). |
