The author publishes finds of medieval European coins: the Kingdoms of Castile and Leon, Sicily, Hungary, Poland, the Republic of Genoa and imitations of Crusader states' coins in the territory of the Republic of Moldova. All coins date back to the rule of the Golden Horde. Three areas of origin of these coins are identified: the Balkans, Central Europe and the Mediterranean. The information about these numismatic finds complements the already known data on the coins of the European Christian states found in the Prut-Dniester region. It allows us to assume the existence of vast economic and other ties between the Golden Horde settlements in the region and various territories both within and outside Jochi's Ulus. |
