The Northern Development Region of the Republic of Moldova includes in its composition 11 districts (Ocnita, Briceni, Donduseni, Edinet, Soroca, Drochia, Riscani, Floresti, Glodeni, Singerei, Falesti) and Balti municipality, with a total area of 10 thousand km². The region has a very varied tourist heritage. Here you will find unique landscapes and natural monuments. The main tourist resources are protected natural areas, forest areas of recreational importance, rivers and lakes. The fossil coral reef chains (toltrii), caves and grottoes, etc. have a very high tourist, ecological and scientific value. Tourism is an economic activity that has undergone considerable evolution over the last decades, contributing to the economic growth of many countries. However, tourist facilities often conflict with the mission of conserving and protecting the environment, causing it significant damage. |
