The text deals with different ways of accepting imprisonment among literary characters. In the fourth part, one of the three models approached is that of Nicolae Steinhardt’s Journal of Happiness, which experiences detention as a chance to overcome the ego. Thus, the deprivation of the main character who adopted the Orthodox faith following the prison experience was, in fact, a sacrificial penance of the faith, the character thus experiencing a metamorphosis in terms of integrating the contradictions of life as a principle of happiness.
