The article aims to present in a comparative manner the elements of local autonomy principle among Eastern Partnership countries. The research includes analyses of the local autonomy from the perspective of competences at the local level, the regulation of local authorities, as well as financial decentralization. Specific attention is also offered to the strategic framework in the countries of the region. The development path of the countries is similar having common history, but at the same time each of these systems have specific features. Most of the countries are working for reforming their administrative system aiming to become a member of the European Union, while others preserve the strong centralised systems.
