Rezumat

An increasing number of countries of the world have declared their concord by signing the protocols concluded at the end of international conferences (Kyoto, Rio de Janiero) in terms of keeping a clean environment, reducing pollution, with priority research funding for finding longterm viable solutions for decreasing pollution, finding alternative sources of energy, invention and discovery of new materials derived from renewable raw materials to replace polluting “plastics”. The material generically called "liquid wood" is a biopolymer composite matrix based on lignin. Lignin is found in the timber and result as a byproduct in the manufacture of paper. This is an invention of researchers from the German company Tecnaro GmbH which is presented in three main forms of production: arboform, arbofill and arboblend. Until the invention of this revolutionary material, the highest amount of lignin was used as fuel for heating. Those from Tecnaro GmbH, through their invention, have managed to give a new use to this product which, in admixture with other natural substances: resins, waxes, vegetable fibers etc. They have created this new material that is in full compliance with the Principles set out for sustainable development. This material "liquid wood" which is a composite biomaterial, that behaves like a synthetic thermo-injectable polymer, so its use in various sectors does not involve additional costs for obtaining various objects, landmarks using installations injection, extrusion being used in case of synthetic polymers: polyethylene, polypropylene, etc. Compared to plastics obtained from finite sources (oil, natural gas etc.) this material has a number of specific properties that make it a viable replacement of plastics: it is obtained from renewable raw materials, it is biodegradable in various conditions and, if reinforced with small quantities of other substances (eg. Kevlar 3%), becomes fireproof. Degradation half-life and biodegradation that can be roughly controlled by reinforcement and other various substances. Given its potential for use in multiple industries, research on this innovative material focuses on the following: - decrease of production price; - improving the injection process through which various objects are obtained of this material; - improving the quality of material and parts obtained by injection; - finding as many uses and applications in various fields of activity. As a result, attention is constantly directed to a more exact determination of the physical and chemical properties of the material. From the results obtained, a number of conclusions may be issued, to overcome the problems by the three directions stated above. In the field of construction, the material called "liquid wood" can replace all the parts made of plastics, such as PVC carpentry, electric equipment (switches, doses) etc. To find more diverse uses in construction, as first intention, we had to examine a number of mechanical properties, behavior at aggression mechanical stability under the influence of these actions, physical and chemical stability under environmental factors. Through this paper, we determined the behavior of "liquid wood" as a force of traction and a force shock, behavior under UV rays, the viscoelastic behavior to temperature variation. The results will lead to finding the best solutions for using "liquid wood" and its specific properties that sets it apart from other materials.
