Rezumat

Being the main cause of premature death, suicide represents an actual problem in public health. World Health Organization statistics show that in the last 50 years the rate of suicides increased by 60% in most countries. Suicide is a major cause of death, particularly in young people. Every year about one million people die by suicide acts, which represent statistically a death every 40 seconds. Suicide attempts, counting between 20 to 50 million per year, are much more frequent than the suicides. Thus, contemporary society is currently facing an increasing trend of the phenomenon of suicide, particularly among young people. The trajectory of suicidal behavior during adolescence has some particular aspects and includes multiple categories of risk factors. But many suicidal acts at this age can be prevented by providing advisors with the application of certain techniques and methods of psychological intervention. Based on the results of scientific investigations and our observations we assume that the application of cognitive-behavioral theory techniques in counseling adolescents’ suicide attempts makes it possible to develop the self-image and self-esteem, positive relations with others and allow to prevent the suicidal act. In this article we approached the issue of adolescents with suicide attempts. It was elucidated the role of individual counseling in reducing suicidal risk and the importance of focusing advisers experienced adolescent suicide attempts, which would streamline the intervention, focusing on removing suicidal thoughts. The study allowed to draft a tool for assessing risk of suicide (questionnaire), to establish a model of personal counseling that can be successfully used in the practice of psycho-social assistance of persons at risk of suicide and develop psychological recommendations, in order to improve the individual counseling of adolescents with suicide attempts.
