This article briefly presents the evolution of the novel species in Bassarabian literature from the post-war period. The critical opinion of the of the literary value of the novels that have been edited at this stage is an extreme one - from the optimistic attitude of criticism from the 50s to the denial of everything that was edited before the 1990s. The metamorphoses through which this epic species has passed are very important. The exit from the simplistic schemes of sociology, the influence of the European and American modernist prose lead to the appearance of names of representative novelists who survived the proletcultural period due to the aesthetic and literary qualities of the books.
