Benzo[f]pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoline is a fused ring system with a bridgehead nitrogen atom structurally similar to the steroid skeletonand its derivatives show potential biological activity and interesting features of dyes. Benzo[f]pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoline derivatives have been prepared via multistep synthesis from 1-hydroxy-8-methoxybenzo[f]quinoline, by 1,3-diploar cycloaddition reactions of benzo[f]quinolinium N-ylides with acetylenic dipolarophiles,or by the cascade reactions of N-(naphthalen-2-yl)pent-4-ynamides with arylacetylenes under microwave irradiation in the presence of AuBr3-AgSbF6 catalyst system. We present an efficient one-pot, three component microwave-assisted synthesis of a range of novel benzo[f]pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoline derivatives, which has the advantages of considerable shorter reaction time, reduced solvent consumption, operational simplicity and minimal impact on the environment.formula |
