Rezumat | ||||||
Agriculture remains the basic sector of the national economy in the Republic of Moldova, as it contributes 11.7% of the GDP structure and 50% of the volume of exports, accounting for about 30% of the country's active population. Based on the researches carried out, four major constraints of the horticultural sector have been established: human capital, market infrastructure, innovation and competitiveness, as well as investment climate. The current state of the marketing infrastructure is perceived as a constraint for business development in the fruit and vegetable sector. Market economy requires fruit and vegetable growers to orient their business by doing business, meeting and respecting the following important issues: implementation of modern and intensive technologies; developing value chain on product; practicing commercial and organic agriculture; development of marketing infrastructure; association in professional organizations on interests and on homogeneous products and cooperation to promote and conquer new advantageous markets, etc. According to FAO data, global demand for food will increase by 70% by 2050 and therefore the agri-food sector should be treated, as in the EU, as a key priority for strategic development for food safety and security. |
