the article considers the initial stage of reforms in the Ottoman Empire in the late XVIII-early XX century. Despite the fact that the aim of the reforms was to preserve stability, "tradition" of the Empire, they have become one of steps towards modernization of the Ottoman Empire. Limited reforms did not change the significance of them to convert the Empire. In this reform period, it was understood the inevitability of reform and the first steps to implement them. However, a genuine understanding of the significance of these reforms can be achieved under the condition of overcoming the discourse of Orientalism. |
