Biomedical Engineering is a interdisciplinary domain where technical sciences cooperate to solve specific problems of Biology and Medicine. Biomedical engineering was segregated from the necessity of cooperation between medical personnel and specialists in engineering, computer science and science to solve interdisciplinary problems related to modernization of treatment, medical research and health technology management. In Republic of Moldova there is the need of specialists in the field of biomedical engineering. In 2005 was created "Biomedical Systems Engineering" specialty, which provides the basic and specialized training of specialists in the field of biomedical engineering, and since 2010 master’s studies have been launched. Two universities: Technical University of Moldova and State University of Medicine and Pharmacy currently participate in a TEMPUS IV project “Biomedical Engineering Education Tempus Initiative in Eastern Neighboring Area” (BME-ENA) with a main objective - creation and harmonization of Master educational program in the field of Biomedical Engineering and elaboration of a new curriculum for Master studies in Moldova. Master program "Biomedical Engineering" offers professional training in biomedical clinical engineering and prepares specialists able to integrate in the modern health care system and to contribute into the improvement of care, able to work in research, design and technical assistance in the medical institutions and clinical research centers. |
