The cardiac changes occurred in the Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) have long been considered an important problem in pediatric rheumatology. Because of latent clinical course of heart lesions, patients with JIA may develop significant changes to life increased cardiovascular risk later in adulthood. The purpose: the evaluation of electrocardiographic and echocardiographic changes in children with JIA, depending on disease duration, disease subtype and disease activity. The prospective clinical study included 70 children who were diagnosed with JIA, according to ILAR established criteria [2001]. The medium age of the children was 129.4 months ± 6.0 months. Of the total group of patients, 50 were girls (65.8%) and 20 – boys (34.2%). All patients were subjected to electrocardiography and echocardiography. The study conducted in 70 children with JIA showed electrocardiographic changes such as disturbances of repolarization in 32.9%, tachycardia – 21,4%, hyperfunction of left ventricle –15.7%, right bundle branch block – 12,9%. Echocardiography visualized the following changes: PMV was met in 90% of cases, tricuspid valve insufficiency – 75.7%, pulmonary valve insufficiency – 47.1% and endured mitral valve was met in 34.3% of cases. The presence of cardiovascular changes observed more frequently in the systemic and polyarticular subtype of JIA requires echocardiographic and electrocardiographic assessment periodically in these patients |
