In the Republic of Moldova, waste batteries and accumulators are generated entirely by disused imported, stationary and mobile equipments and devices. The legislative and normative deficiency
hinders the existence of a strong and efficient management of this type of waste at the national level. The average quantity of batteries and accumulators collected every year is about 200 tons, which are almost entirely exported without undergoing any treatment process on the territory of Moldova. The experts’
opinion is that such a quantity would cover the amount of material necessary for the functioning of a small waste processing plant. This would stimulate the creation of an efficient system of management of the waste batteries and accumulators in accordance with the Directive 2006/66/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators. |
