Rezumat

Isabelle Eberhardt est l’un des auteurs les plus passionnants du monde francophone. Cette jeune Russe fut particulièrement intéressée par la culture islamique, qu’elle a connue lors des longs voyages dans le Sahara, habillée en cavalier arabe. Elle s’est d’ailleurs convertie à l’Islam, attirée par l’harmonie de la pensée soufi. Ses Écrits sur le sable démontrent un intérêt particulier pour l’image de l’autre, pour les diverses facettes de la culture maghrébine, qu’elle a connue si bien, du dedans, pendant les dernières années de sa vie.

Isabelle Eberhardt is one of the most peculiar writers of the so-called « francophone » world. The young Russian writer was interested especially in Islamic culture, which she was exposed to during her long trips in Sahara, dressed as an Arab knight. She became a Muslim herself, attracted by the harmony she discovered in the soufi thinking. Her Écrits sur le sable show a special interest for the image of the other, for the various aspects of Maghrebian culture, which she knew so well from inside during the last years of her life.
