Religious tourism is a form of tourism that has existed for centuries and still retains some features, as far as pilgrimage itself is concerned, but which has evolved enormously. Today, religious tourism requires a high level of education and culture on the part of tourists, which enables them to appreciate cultural-religious objectives in terms of their architecture, construction, value, spiritual significance and art content. There are still pilgrimages determined by the religious traditions of different countries, or those linked to specific events and manifestations. Religious tourism is a complex phenomenon that is constantly changing and diversifying, while retaining the basic element that established it: religion. |
