Тhis article analyzes the level and quality of solidarity of the modern Moldovan society with the help of sociological research data, assesses the possibilities of the main social institutions that actively influence the cohesion of society. Along with the family, the education system and other state institutions, the solidarity action of religious institutions is considered, it turns out, among other things, how the traditional religion, Orthodoxy, has to do with social solidarity. The factors of Orthodoxy consolidating society are revealed: religious, existential, moral. Assessing the tangible integrating role of the Orthodox Church, researchers also note that in order to develop the process of solidarity, other consolidating regulators operating in other social institutions must actively manifest themselves in society. This is especially important at the present stage, when the Republic of Moldova is actively moving towards integration into the European Union. This process means that the system of social institutions, including religious ones, existing in Moldovan society and reproducing the values of solidarity, must respond to the challenges of European integration.
