The article is dedicated to the unsolved problems of the report “refuge-exile”. The phenomenon is debated in the overall Romanian context, focusing upon regional aspects.Using the multi-disciplinary approach, the author refers to multiple aspects: historical, artistic, psychological. However, the psychoanalytic perspective becomes axis mundi of exegesis, highlighting an exceptional state of mind. The main categories of the method allowed eluding the stunning transformations in artistic and civic consciousness of exile. It suggests the biographies of Druta, Ungureanu, Loteanu, Doga, Dolgan, Mursa to emphasize the devastating consequences of the failure in the cultural process of its best representatives. On the other hand, there is discovered the immanence of the identity crisis of the Basarabia migrants within perverse conditions of oriental exile.In conclusion, the author refers to the vital necessity to include the spectrum “refuge-exile” in the study of the art, for an in-depth knowledge of the unique complexity of the artistic trends in RSSM.
