Rezumat

Purpose: The most important purpose of the research is to investigate how different birth control methods: contraception pill and abortion legalization in the US, affected fertility and workforce participation of women. Design/methodology/approach: This work will be a research which will highlight how two different birth control methods affected fertility and female labor supply Findings: The purpose and main question of this research are to estimate how do different birth control measures affect fertility and female labor supply starting with the appearance of female oral contraception in 1960. Later, examine the effect of abortion legalization prior, and after the Roe v Wade reform in 1973. Finally, take a look at how both birth control methods affected minor’s fertility. The topic of birth control plays a globally important role in our society, especially for the female population. For centuries people studied and searched for new methods of contraception. With a decrease in fertility at an early age, the desire of young women for professional development increased. The overall idea of both methods is that women’s choices should not be controlled by anyone but themselves. Research limitations/implications: The authors from the corresponding articles used different estimations to evaluate the effect of birth control methods on women’s fertility and labor force participation. They also could observe some limitations that occurred during the experiment. Such limitations are related to omitted variables and the data collected from the sources. Practical implications: The results of this work might be useful for all women around the world to rethink their attitude towards birth control and labor supply. Acknowledgment: Present research was evaluated under the guide and with the support of COST CA19136: NET4Age-Friendly the main aim and objective of which is to establish an international and interdisciplinary network of researchers from all sectors to foster awareness, and to support the creation and implementation of smart, healthy indoor and outdoor environments for present and future generations. The results will contribute to solving problems and actions carried out within the COST CA 16226, Indoor living space improvement: Smart Habitat for the Elderly (SHELD-ON), this way creating a better society for everybody.
