The research of intercultural education from the perspective of opening to multiple values represents a fully justified approach because it helps the individuals to integrate themselves more easily and in a more active way in the social environment in which they live and work. School practices build and put into practice various strategies for marking cultural identity. These can be identified at the level of the contents stipulated by the programs, being mostly ethno-centric and cultural-centric. The school accepting values such as tolerance, mutual respect, equality or complementary of values will exploit spiritual differences and local values, attaching them to the general values of humanity. Any authentic local value must be preserved by those who aspire to be closer to world culture. Local values must/can function, for the culture of origin, as gateways and openings to the general values towards which human beings tend. |
