Background. Tibial plateau fractures represent approximately 1% of the total fractures in the general population and 8% among the senile age population. Objective of the study. Analysis of the results of surgical treatment performed by osteosynthesis with plates with angular stability of patients with tibial plateau fractures treated in the orthopedic and traumatology clinic „V. Bețișor” during 2014-2020. Material and Methods. Were analyzed 90 clinical cases: 50 women, 40 men. The Schatzker classification was used: of which type I-1 case, II-20, III-15, IV-9, V-30, VI-15, out of all 88 were closed and only 2 open. Surgical treatment consisted of open reduction and plate osteosynthesis, in which at least one of the plates was with angular stability. Results. Patients were evaluated clinically and imaged up to 1 year postoperatively, the functional result was assessed according to the Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale, obtaining an average result of 88 points. Bone healing was determined between 12 and 18 weeks. Various postoperative complications developed in 14 patients. The results were dependent on the approaches, the surgical techniques used, quality of reduction, the stability of the osteosynthesis, the precocity, and the correctness of the functional recovery and the compliance of the patients. Conclusion. Osteosynthesis with angular stability plates allows obtaining favorable results, easier and fewer complications especially in cases of individual approach to treatment, optimal choice of surgical approaches, less invasive surgical techniques, obtaining qualitative reduction, stable osteosynthesis, early and correct functional recovery. |
