În condiţiile în care lumea socială funcționează simultan ca un sistem de relaţii de putere şi ca un sistem de interacțiuni simbolice, este evident că în orice societate relaţiile politice se raportează la o anumită ordine simbolică, fapt care determină o sporire semnificativă a atenţiei acordate elementului simbolic în cadrul acțiunii politice. Exerciţiul puterii devine inseparabil legat de aplicarea așa-numitei “politici simbolice”, exploatarea resurselor acesteia în interesul fortificării solidarității populației, sporirii legitimităţii elitei politice, subordonând-o, în definitiv, intereselor politice. Procesul de simbolizare a arenei politice, tot mai pronunţat în ultimul timp, rezidă în transferul de semnificaţii, implicit, în translarea în sfera publică a diferitor ierarhii axiologice. Astfel discursul politic construieşte spaţiul politic, asigurând circularea mesajelor, cadrul de înţelegere şi interpretare a valorilor, în conformitate cu structura axiologică adoptată. Procesul politic se pretează, în acest caz, explicaţiei prin intermediul construcţiilor simbolice, a căror pondere valorică se află în relaţie directă cu conjunctura social-politică existentă. Operând cu simboluri (sau imagini simbolice), actorii politici le conferă sensuri și semnificații determinate, care se manifestă în formă verbală, figurativă sau plastică. Respectiv, agenda dezbaterilor publice devine legată de ideile, obiectivele și valorile impuse de putere / opoziție și aflate la temelia politicii sale curente. Are loc construirea realității prin stabilirea ordinii gnoseologice, a percepției vieții (în special a percepției lumii sociale) în cadrul unei reprezentări omogenizate a timpului, spațiului, cauzalității, fapt care face posibilă concordanța dorită a spiritelor, după cum a indicat P. Bourdieu, acordându-i puterii simbolice caracteristica de “putere cuasimagică”, adică, capabilă prin intermediul expresiei să configureze realitatea, să impună viziunea și credința, să afirme sau să schimbe percepția despre lume, și în acest fel să influențeze lumea. În consecință, conținutul politicii simbolice ca formă a comunicării politice se subordonează nu atât înțelegerii semnificaţiilor, cât acțiunii de a persuada, de a stabili parametrii spațiului discursiv al politicii, în baza căruia se formează diverse realități politice virtuale. Practică politică demonstrează că acțiunea simbolică (război hibrid, acțiunea mediatică manipulativă etc.) își adjudecă în ultimul timp un loc tot mai accentuat în arsenalul politicii.

Given that the social world functions simultaneously as a system of relations of power and as a system of symbolic interactions, it is obvious that in any society the political relations are related to a certain symbolic order, which leads to a significant increase of the attention given to the symbolic element in the political action. The exercise of power becomes inseparably linked to the application of the so-called „symbolic policy”, the utilization of its resources in the interest of fortifying the solidarity of the population, enhancing the legitimacy of the political elite, subordinating, ultimately, to the political interests. The process of symbolizing the political arena, more pronounced lately, lies in the transfer of meanings, implicitly, in the translation of the different axiological hierarchies into the public sphere. Thus the political discourse builds the political space, ensuring the circulation of messages, the framework of understanding and interpretation of values, according to the adopted axiological structure. The political process lends itself in this case to the explanation through symbolic constructions, whose value share is in direct relation to the existing social-political conjuncture. Operating with symbols (or symbolic images), political actors give them certain meanings, which are expressed in verbal, figurative or plastic form. Respectively, the agenda of public debates is related to the ideas, objectives and values imposed by the power / opposition and underpinned by its current policy. The reality is built by establishing the gnosiological order, the perception of life (especially the perception of the social world) within a homogeneous representation of time, space, causality, which makes the desired concordance of spirits as P. Bourdieu pointed out. In its vision, the symbolic power „quasi-magic power”, that is, capable of expressing reality, imposing vision and belief, asserting or changing the perception of the world, and thereby influencing the world. Consequently, the content of symbolic policy as a form of political communication is subordinated not to the understanding of meanings but to the action of convincing, to determine the parameters of the discursive space of politics, on the basis of which various virtual political realities are formed. Political practice demonstrates that symbolic action (hybrid warfare, manipulative media action, etc.) has acquired lately an increasingly prominent place in the arsenal of politics.
